Who we are
YARA is an iOS kitchen assistant made by Baramio. Questions about this policy: joseph@baramio.com.
Data we collect
Account data: your email address and name, handled by our sign-in provider Clerk (email code, Google, or Apple sign-in). App data: your household's food inventory, meal history, food preferences, chat messages with the assistant, and photos you submit for pantry scanning.
How we use it
Only to run the service: answer meal questions from your household's inventory and preferences, extract items from photos, and sync data across household members. We show no ads, we do not sell your data, and we do not track you across other apps.
AI processing
Chat questions and submitted photos are processed by a large-language-model provider (via OpenRouter) to generate answers and extract pantry items. The kitchen context sent to the model includes your household's inventory and preferences, including any names entered in per-person preference records. YARA does not keep photo bytes after extraction; the AI provider handles them under its own privacy policy.
Subscriptions
Payments go through Apple. RevenueCat processes subscription status keyed to a pseudonymous account identifier. We never see your payment card details.
Service providers
Clerk (sign-in), Cloudflare (hosting and database), OpenRouter (AI processing), RevenueCat (subscriptions), and Apple (payments).
Household sharing
Inventory, meals, preferences, and the chat thread with the assistant are shared with the members of your household. Shared data, including chat history, remains with the household after a member deletes their account.
Data retention and deletion
We keep your data while your account exists. Delete your account in the app under Settings → Delete account. This removes your sign-in record and your personal data. If you are the only member of your household, all household data is wiped. If other members remain, the shared household data stays with them.
Children
YARA is not directed at children under 13.
Changes
We post updates on this page with a new effective date.
